Exploring the World of Chemistry Summer Scholars Session I and II

This course will be a blend of discussion and, most importantly, experience in a lab setting. Laboratories are essential to all science courses. They make the information from lectures and textbooks come alive. It gives real-life situations to theories and practices which helps students gain more knowledge of the material by engaging in this hands-on experience. Students will use our state-of-the-art labs and modern instrumentation to perform experiments that touch on a variety of chemistry topics.
Important Information
Students with an interest in science are encouraged to apply. One year of high school chemistry is required.

Sarah West
Sarah is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. She has been at Notre Dame since 1998 and has been involved in a variety of chemistry courses from General Chemistry to Forensics to Organic Chemistry. She currently teaches the Organic Chemistry labs for science majors. Sarah has been involved in several Outreach events including chemical demonstration shows, hands-on workshops, and demo booths to bring her love of chemistry to the younger generation.
