We offer voluntary Notre Dame Information sessions to students to learn about resources offered to students from 2-3pm. Students should also plan to manage their time to complete homework assignments and group work outside of the designated class times.

- Do we get credit for Summer Scholars Online?
Yes! You will receive one Notre Dame college credit upon completion of your online course.Pre-College students’ receipt of a Satisfactory (S) grade and one (1) college credit is contingent upon the students’ completing and meeting all Program requirements. To obtain a transcript, please visit the Registrar's website and complete the online request form. If you have questions about ordering a transcript, please contact the University Registrar at (574) 631-7043.
- What online format will you be using?
Professors may use different formats depending on what works best for their course’s content. Students will have access to Zoom, Canvas, and other software after you have completed the enrollment process to get your Notre Dame ID. In early June, our office will be sending a welcome letter with more information about what to expect in your course and if you need to purchase any books or download specific software prior to the first day of class.
- What is the attendance policy?
Classes will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (EDT) and 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. (EDT), as this is the time that would work best for the majority of students. Depending on the course, your professor may need additional synchronous class time with students and it will be required for you to be online during the hours the professor sets. Due to the fact this is a college credit bearing course, it is required that students who are admitted must make a commitment to attend all virtual synchronous class sessions. If necessary, we will allow two missed class sessions throughout the program. All extracurriculars are voluntary after these hours, although these are highly recommended in order to connect with amazing people around the world!
If you need to miss a class contact your Professor and the Office of Pre-College Programs prior to class time.
- Absence #1, you will receive an email from the Pre-College office reminding you that you have missed a class.
- Absence #2, you will receive an email notifying you that you may not miss any future classes.
- Absence #3 you will receive an email from the Pre-College office with the option to withdraw from the course.
If a student misses more than two unexcused class sessions during the program, the student is withdrawn from the course. If the student does not complete the withdrawal process, the student will receive a grade of "U" (Unsatisfactory) on their transcript.
- How many people will be in each class?
It depends on the course, however, you can expect up to 25 students in your course.
- What will virtual meetings look like?
Professors have adapted their courses for an online format. Courses will consist of synchronous and asynchronous learning, individual assignments, and group work.
- How can I prepare for my online class?
During our program, you will find you will continue to develop essential skills needed in order to succeed in an undergraduate course setting. Just like in the traditional college setting on campus, you need to be organized, utilize time management, and remain open minded as you learn from Notre Dame faculty and your peers.
- Can parents or siblings listen to or record a class session?
Only enrolled students may be involved in class sessions due to the University’s Responsible Use of Data & Information Technology Resources Policy. Furthermore, recordings of the class session are not permissible given the University’s faculty own intellectual property rights to their course materials. Some professors may allow students to download presentations after the class session and this will be at the discretion of the professor for each course. All enrolled students need to carefully read through the Online Program Code of Conduct for a complete list of policies.
- What academic resources will be available to students throughout the program?
In addition to Notre Dame faculty, students will receive support from our Course Facilitators who will be mentors to students during the program.
